This book aims to provide all educators, but especially those wishing to achieve the HLTA Professional Standards, with a theoretical perspective to underpin their practical understanding and knowledge of learners. It discusses areas of Additional Educational Needs (AEN) that educators have frequently ‘heard about’, but would welcome the opportunity to find out more about. However, with inclusive practice continuing to develop in all educational settings it is vital that all educators have a good knowledge foundation to provide insight into areas of study such as therapeutic education, AIDS and cultural issues. The book also seeks to encourage practitioners to examine and reflect on their own practice and their personal views and beliefs.
